Dainichi Showa – Female – 42cm
A striking Showa from Dainichi Koi Farm in Niigata, Japan, one of the most famous Showa breeders in the world. A bold red head, layered sumi and bright white skin give this fish real character.
The Pattern
A deep red plate covers the head, with a clean white nose touched by fine sumi. A second red plate spreads across the shoulders, set with sumi that breaks through the red. Behind it, soft, netted sumi runs along the back towards the tail, giving the pattern a layered, shadowed look.
Skin and Colour
The head red is thick and deep. The sumi is still developing in places, with a netted quality that should sharpen and deepen as she matures. The white skin between the patterns is bright and clean.
Why Dainichi
Dainichi is renowned for powerful body shape and the size to become true jumbo koi. Their Showa regularly take top honours at the All Japan Koi Show. As a female, she has the frame to grow into a big, impressive koi.
