Dainichi Kohaku – 52cm
A big, bright Kohaku from Dainichi Koi Farm in Niigata, Japan, one of the most famous koi breeders in the world. Deep red plates, snow-white skin and real size at 52cm.
The Pattern
A red head plate sits behind a clean white nose and joins a large red plate across the shoulders and body. Two smaller plates sit either side of the dorsal fin, and a short rear plate finishes the pattern. The red stops before the tail joint, leaving a crisp white odome.
Skin and Colour
The red is deep and even, with clear, defined edges. The shiroji is bright, snow white, and the pectoral fins are pure white. The strong contrast between red and white gives this Kohaku real presence in the pond.
Why Dainichi
Dainichi is renowned for powerful body shape and the size to become true jumbo koi. Their fish regularly take top honours at the All Japan Koi Show. At 52cm, this Kohaku already has the volume and presence of a substantial koi.
