Dainichi Showa – Female – 40cm
A classic Showa from Dainichi Koi Farm in Niigata, Japan, one of the most famous Showa breeders in the world. Bold sumi, bright red and clean white in a striking three-colour balance.
The Pattern
Sumi marks the head and nose, then sweeps across the shoulders in a strong black band. Behind it, a large red plate covers the shoulders and mid-back. Sumi wraps down the flank behind the dorsal fin, broken by smaller red markings towards the tail. Both pectoral fins carry bold motoguro, the black fin roots that define a good Showa.
Skin and Colour
The red is deep and even across the main plate. The sumi is solid and glossy, and the white skin between the patterns is bright and clean. Sumi stripes in the tail fin complete the look.
Why Dainichi
Dainichi’s Showa regularly take top honours at the All Japan Koi Show. Their bloodlines are renowned for powerful body shape, deep sumi and the size to become true jumbo koi. As a young female, she has the frame to grow into a big, impressive koi.
