The pattern is a balanced Sandan (three-step), with a clean Hi mark near the shoulder, a strong central plate through the body, and a bold wrap onto the head and face. The Hi is the deep, saturated red Momotaro is known for — even tone, no patchiness, and clean break edges where it meets the white. The Shiroji is exceptionally bright and unblemished, which is the detail that separates a serious Kohaku from a good one. The face/mouth Hi (sometimes called kuchibeni when isolated to the lips) adds real character and balances the pattern visually from head to tail. The body is straight with strong shoulders, good volume through the midsection, and a clean tail tube. Momotaro Koi Farm is one of the most respected names in Niigata, with a Kohaku bloodline refined across decades specifically for the qualities visible here — deep Hi, sharp pattern edges, and a white finish that holds its brightness as the fish matures.
