Momotaro Maruten Kohaku – 42cm
A clean, elegant Maruten Kohaku from Momotaro Koi Farm in Okayama, Japan. A perfectly round red spot on the head, bold body plates and bright white skin.
The Pattern
A round, deep red spot sits centred on the head, separate from the body pattern. This is the maruten, a prized feature in Kohaku. The shoulders stay clean white, setting off a large red plate on the mid-body, followed by a second plate at the dorsal fin. The pattern finishes cleanly before the tail, leaving a crisp white tail section.
Skin and Colour
The red is thick and even, with sharp, well-defined edges, especially on the head spot. The shiroji is bright, snow white, and the pectoral fins are pure white. With generous white between the plates, this Kohaku has a clean, balanced, classic look.
Why Momotaro
Momotaro is one of Japan’s most respected Gosanke breeders, and Kohaku is where they excel. Their fish are known for strong body shape and red that keeps its depth as the fish grows. At 42cm, this Maruten Kohaku has plenty of growing ahead.
