A Hi-dominant Goshiki

Most Goshiki show a balance between red and network. This one leads with red.

Large, solid Hi plates run the length of the body in deep, saturated colour. The network appears in concentrated patches rather than spreading thin across the back. The result is high contrast and real presence in the water.

Bold head pattern

The Hi runs forward across the entire head and stops clean at a white nose and mouth. It’s a dramatic face — the kind that reads clearly from the far side of a pond, which is exactly where most koi are actually viewed.

Where the network shows

The pale sections carry the true Goshiki reticulation — fine dark netting laid over a bright silver-white base. Because these areas sit surrounded by heavy Hi, the contrast is sharper than on a more evenly patterned fish.

Gin Rin through the scales

The reflective scaling runs across the Hi plates and through the network. The sparkle shifts as the fish moves and lifts the whole pattern under direct sun.

Body and finish

Straight body with good width through the shoulders. Clean white fins, well-formed. Bright Shiroji on the nose and underside.

Kawakami is a respected Niigata breeder with a strong reputation for Goshiki and Gin Rin work. At Nisai, this fish has years of development still ahead — Goshiki network tightens and Hi deepens well into a koi’s fourth and fifth year.
