Momotaro Maruten Kohaku – 44cm

A distinctive Maruten Kohaku from Momotaro Koi Farm in Okayama, Japan. A separate red spot on the head, bold body plates and bright white skin — a pattern collectors look for.

The Pattern

A round red spot sits on the head, separate from the body pattern. This is the maruten, a prized feature in Kohaku. The shoulders stay clean white, setting off two red plates on the mid-body and a further plate at the dorsal fin. The pattern finishes well before the tail, leaving a long, clean white tail section.

Skin and Colour

The red is thick and even, with clear, defined edges. The shiroji is bright, snow white, and the pectoral fins are pure white. With plenty of white between the plates, the pattern reads cleanly and elegantly from above.

Why Momotaro

Momotaro is one of Japan’s most respected Gosanke breeders. Their Kohaku are known for strong body shape, quality red and colour that keeps developing with age. At 44cm, this fish has plenty of growing ahead.
